Safety

We have a strong and unwavering commitment to safety, health, and the environment at Piqua Materials. Safety is a constant journey with the end goal of sending everyone home safely, every day.

Like all other companies in the limestone mining industry, we are regulated by the Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) and receive regular inspections at our mine site annually. In addition, one of our goals is to achieve “zero” citations or violations during these inspections. These goals are accomplished by “top down” management principles. There is a support system in place from the president of the company, all the way through to each and every employee. We respond swiftly to all concerns expressed regarding safety.

Besides these crucial management principles, we have a heavily-involved Safety Committee made up of a cross section of hourly personnel, foremen, superintendents, safety mangers, and chief operating officers. The committee meets bimonthly and randomly inspects sites unannounced.

Lastly, one of the biggest factors in overall safety at our site is accountability. We have checks and balances in place so that everyone has a hand in the overall safety of the site, and the safety of others and themselves.

Safety is Piqua Materials’ one goal. The Company is built with a solid foundation providing needed resources for technology, training, and technical support to safely conduct business.
