Careers

I Build America is a movement to generate pride and respect for the construction industry, and to recruit young people into the industry as a rewarding and valuable career.

The construction industry is the nation’s largest single industry, employing more people and contributing more money to America’s bottom line than any other single industry. And with the need for new schools, hospitals, housing, and other commercial buildings increasing, the industry is going to need more and more quality workers to get all of the work done.

Education

Don’t know everything you need to know in order to get a career in construction? It’s never been easier to receive quality construction education. Ohio universities, community colleges and career technical centers offer a variety of programs and all types of curriculum. You can receive degrees, diplomas or certifications in all aspects of the construction industry. From carpentry and electrical to heavy equipment operating and construction management, the right program is available for you!

Learning & Development

An apprenticeship provides an opportunity for a high school graduate to earn money while learning a highly skilled trade from a master craftsman. Apprenticeships are truly a “earn while you learn” program. After approximately 2-4 years of on-the-job training and classroom work, the apprentice is certified as a journey-level crafts person in his or her field and is awarded credentials that are valid nationwide.
